Just to share my experience in case someone in future has the same problem: I sent an email to the email address mentioned in the test instructions and explained my situation along with documentation (flight ticket). After about two weeks, I did not hear from them, and I decided to contact IRCC. The lady was quite helpful and told me to go ahead and take the test, and that there should be no problem as I had already let IRCC know. I did take the test, passed, and 3 days later it turned green in my status tracker.
