Can a lawyer ask IRCC to stop processing of file

I hired a lawyer to write an explanation letter and since I'm in a hurry he told me he can contact the ircc and ask them to freeze my file processing and background check while he writes the letter so that it will reach them in time...is that legit or is he fooling me ?

If an immigration lawyer told you that they can get that done, I'd trust their advice. I find it unrealistic, but if a lawyer says so, I'd go with their suggestion.
