Applying TRV within Canada for Visitor Record Status

Hi,
I am on a closed Work permit and my wife is on a visitor record. Both of the document expires in September and so does our TRV stamped on passport . Our work permit and visitor record extension is in process by the company.

My question and concern is , I saw some requirements in IRCC where Trv within Canada can only be applied for Work or study permit holder . So How am I going to apply for TRV for my wife with a visitor record . Some say to apply by paper but I am really worried what is the process . Is there no process to apply TRV within Canada for family members of Work permit holders who are on Visitor record status . Please Help

Your wife is on visitor record so she cannot apply for TRV from within Canada. She can stay in Canada on VR, and extend her visitor record. If she wants to leave then she can leave. If TRV has expired, she applied outland.

Thank you . Can she apply while staying in Canada or she has to go out . Is there no other way because basically she is my dependent.

No she cannot apply for TRV inside Canada. She doesn’t need one if staying in Canada. If she wants to leave then she applies for TRV to return. She is not your dependant. A dependant is your child under 22. Assume she is not eligible for SOWP.

Ok . She is eligible for SOWP , but we didnt apply earlier . Can we apply for SOWP once my work permit and her visitor record is extended ? And then go for TRV .

I also heard that if we apply trv on paper mode together then it works . I am not sure though

If SOWP is approved then she can apply for TRV from inside Canada.
