Hi everyone, need urgent help please.

My future husband and I decided to get married a month ago. However, he received his Confirmation of Permanent Residence (COPR) just 1 week before, and he is currently awaiting his PR card. We have been living at the same address for the past year and a half, sharing accommodations with friends. Will this affect my PR application? Additionally, I am currently on a Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) valid until March 2026. I created my Express Entry profile in February 2024 (CRS Score 505) with a single status because we were not in a relationship or had any plan to marry at that time.

Now that he has received his PR and if we plan to marry in the next month or two, I am unsure about what steps we should take. Should we update my Express Entry profile to reflect our marital status? but since we have same address history, does it gonna affect his PR or my application in negative way?

Your assistance will greatly appreciated. Thank you!

This is exactly the problem. IRCC may have concerns that OP had been living together in a common law relationship for over a year. We have seen some similar cases. Isn’t an issue for her EE but could be for spousal sponsorship. Technically could also come up if his EE is reviewed so would gather and keep proof that you were not living in a common law relationship even if with roommates.
