My friend wants to travel to another Caribbean Island from Canada for vacation. Her passport is from Haiti and she does have Permanent Resident status.

What document does she use to travel?

If she needs to use her Haitian passport does she need to get a visa to travel?

If the country requires a visa to travel then yes. She is not a Canadian citizen so needs a TRV to enter that country.

Each country has its own requirements - although she will almost certainly have to use her passport as well. Some countries, like Mexico and Dominican Republic, will let PR holders enter without a visa (or with a simple e-visa like an ETA). She should still check that this applies to Haitian passport holders, in some cases it's not for all nationalities (eg in the case of DR, for reasons that may be obvious).

Important to note: I'm only referring to direct flights. Transit without a visa may be possible for some countries, USA is usually not so easy.
