How much money do you think you’d need to have in your account, to stay six months in Canada (I’m coming from the Philippines)? I’ve heard great things about Canada and really want to visit. I don’t have any previous travel experience, just got my passport in Manila.

Need some tips on creating a strong application, especially from people who have been here and done this on a visitor visa.

I’m not sure about the specifics at all, but I understand that I need to prove surety that I will return to the Philippines. Also that I have proper place to stay to stay and money to support myself while in Canada. I’m really not aware of any other stipulations.

Please, if you could post specifics, give me any tips that you have, thanks in advance .

There is no magic number to show in a bank account. But, it should be enough to cover all travel, food and accommodation costs. In your case, for 6 months, you will have to show A LOT. Like maybe P1 million or more.

Right off, I would say an intended 6-month stay is likely to get you a refusal. That's a long visit. What is the purpose of the trip? Where in Canada do you propose to visit.? II do not think the IRCC will be too impressed by you saying you "have heard great things about Canada". Do you have family or know anyone here? It would help if you had travelled in the past to countries that require visas, such as USA, UK, Australia, N. Zealand, but I see you have no travel history. How old are you?

Related to the size of your bank account, the IRCC likes to see regular deposits over 6 months or more, from a job. It's not a matter of stuffing some cash in there at the last minute to make it look good. Do you have steady, well-paid employment? How is it you can take 6 months off? If you have a job, the IRCC likes to see a letter from your employer, confirming you have been given time off for the duration of your trip.

Other considerations. What ties do you have to the Phils? Again, a job is a good one. If you will be leaving behind an asawa/anak, that will help to show a tie to return. Do you own property there?

Lots of factors can come into play. Difficult for anyone to list them all. Time reading relevant threads on this forum can provide a good education.

Don't ask for a six month visit. That's way too long for a first trip and shows a lack of ties to your home country.

Suggest planning a visit of 3-4 weeks. You want to show strong ties to your home country such employment and property ownership.
