Entry in Canada with COPR when traveling

I got an ITA a few weeks back and I plan to complete my PR application soon. I have to travel to India in 1.5 months and I will be in India for close to 3 months. I am in Canada on a closed work permit with a visa that is valid till 2025. Will I be able to reenter Canada with a COPR if my PR is approved while I’m away?

Any suggestions or help on this would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

If you get your eCoPR when you are outside Canada, you can enter Canada by:
1. getting a PRTD
2. waiting for your PR card, ask someone to ship it to you. Very risky: PR card can get lost in transfer, PR card timelines are very unpredictable
3. Enter through land border from the US(if you've a valid US visa)

Once you are virtually landed(eCoPR), your closed work permit will be cancelled and you won't be able to use it to come back.

You will also be asked to confirm whether you will be in Canada. Would suggest indicating that you will be in India and ask for COPR stamping in India. You’ll be able to submit your passport for stamping in India and then you can land on your way back to Canada.

Thank you for the suggestion. I was told to notify IRCC that I’m in India in the portal when I get the approval and then update them to issue me a COPR when I land in Canada. Would that be better?
