Spouse visa and unpaid leaves

I have applied for my wife's spouse visa and it's under process. Due to emergency back at India I am going to take unpaid leaves from my company for 2 months. I am worried if the unpaid leaves will effect my wife's spouse visa?

My consultant told me there can be 50 50 chance where the immigration officer might check my SIN and if he sees the payroll is not running during unpaid leaves, spouse visa might be effected. Is this true?

You do not qualify to apply for SOWP if not actually working. If it is discovered that you didn’t declare that you are on unpaid leave then your wife could also end up with a up to 5 year ban for misrepresentation. You should withdraw the application until you are back in Canada working. At the very least you should inform IRCC by webform about your unpaid leave period.
