Dear Friends

I am from INDIA and has received my closed work visa.

My child is 2 months old and I want to travel with him to Canada.

For this I can either go for Child Dependent Visa or Visitor Visa.
The processing time for Child Dependent Visa is considerably longer than Visitor Visa.
So, I have opted for the visitor one.

My queries are
1) Can I sponsor my child for Visitor Visa or can my sister-in law (Canadian citizen) sponsor him? I will be staying with her for few months in Canada before I can find my own place.
2) What documents do I need to submit with his visitor visa application?

Once there, I plan to file Open Work Permit for my husband after 2-3 months working in Canada.

Please guide.

Regards

What is a child dependant visa? There is only a TRV?

1. What do you mean by sponsor? You are filing for your child. Your sister in law cannot do it.
2. Passport, birth certificate, approval to travel without father, funds, ties to return

Who is caring for your child while you work?

Even if you plan on living with family temporarily and your sister will be providing childcare you should be able to show that your could afford both of these things. There have been examples of family breakdowns in the past and your family isn’t obligated to house you or care for your child so you should be able to show that you would be able to pay for housing a childcare if it becomes necessary.

Thanks for the reply.
1. Child Dependent Visa comes under Family Sponsorship category. Can I put an application under this program or is this category only for those who are Permanent Residents in Canada?
2. By sponsor, I mean the person who under Visitor Visa takes responsibility to meet the living and lodging expenses of the intended visitor to Canada.
3. My sister has invited her parents to visit Canada before. Can she not invite her nephew to visit Canada and sponsor him? Please guide.
4. How much funds is adequate to meet the criteria? I only have my savings and that are in Indian rupees.
5. Approval to travel without father will be given by whom? My husband?
6. My child will be taken care of in a day care center in Canada while I am at work. Do I need to present any documents for that, may be some advance booking amount etc.

Regards

Yes, I agree with you.
I only plan to stay with my sister-in-law for 2 months and leave my child in a day-care while I am at work.
He will be around 4 - 5 months old by then.
My salary in Canada should be enough to take care of our expenses.
But the thing is that since I am applying for India, my savings gets divided by 60 due to differences in the currency.
Is 10000 CAD enough since I will also be earning salary once in Canada.
Can my husband and I show our combined Net Worth Statement for this purpose?

Regards

1. Family sponsorship is for PR or citizen sponsoring your child. You are coming to Canada as a worker. So it is a TRV.
2. There is no such things as sponsorship for a TRV. You are coming as the worker so you are supporting your child. You are working so responsible.
3. She can invite him but again, IRCC knows you are entering as a worker. Don’t know the purpose of her inviting her nephew as he is not coming to visit.
4. Show whatever savings you have as well as your husband’s. Show your employment letter with salary. IRCC may want to see that you can afford rent, living expenses, daycare.
5. When I travelled with my children when they were young I had our lawyer draw up a letter signed by both parents that we could travel with our kids alone.
6. Since you have care arranged then provide contract. You are lucky have secured care.
