Parents and Grandparents Sponsorship 2021

My Mother-in-law received her PR in January of this year (she was a 2021 applicant). She has yet to receive her PR card, it's been 10 months. She has called IRCC several times, called her MP, filled out the online form, and no one can give her any information as to why she has not received the card.

She needs to renew her Indian passport and can't do it without the PR card, she also can't travel. She only received the piece of paper when they told her she got her PR. Thankfully she has her SIN and health card but she needs the PR card. Our MP suggested we fill out a new PR card form, but she has already paid for the card as part of her PR application fees- she should not have to pay again.

Any suggestions? We feel quite frustrated as nothing has seemed to work.

Finally got an update from Montreal office today. Applied for my mother back in Oct 2021.

received an email from the Montreal office requesting access to the PR portal for inland landing. However, the issue is that my mother has never been to Canada. As a result, I responded, requesting a change from inland to outland processing.

Congratulations. I wonder if your mother went through a longer background check or just because Montréal is generally slow.

Finally got an update from Montreal office today. Applied for my mother back in Oct 2021.

I applied under PGP-2021.
File submitted: 2021-Dec-05

So far only received Sponsor approval & biometrics request. Biometrics submitted successfully in January 2023 itself.

File is at the Vancouver office.

Permanent residence portal says, file submitted.

I haven't even received Medical or any further updates.
I can't use the F12 trick.

Same. Vancouver office is really slow and I don’t know what to do. Called IRCC and they said we have to wait . I am still haven’t received any request for medical and my timeline is passed over 22 months

exactly same situation, applied oct 2021, Visa offfice Vancouver but received email from montreal for Portal Access and replied to them that parents are outside canada not inland

Same boat, dad retired police officer. Applied on Nov 21, 2021. Waiting for the passport request for more than 4 months now.

what do they say in the pre arrival email usually? I think I got one in September 2022 outlining the list of pre arrival services... but again absolutely nothing since December 2022.

I too submitted PCC and proof of relationship in 2nd week of Sept 2022. I think we could expect final decision by Feb.

Hi everyone!
Do we send the original Police Certificate or do we upload a copy through the portal? The instructions seem a bit confusing: in one spot they say “provide an original police clearance certificate” and lower it states “Do not submit originals, unless otherwise stated”. Or is the first quote I wrote the statement to provide the original? I’m not quite sure what we should do. Please, advise! Thank you!

I received letter with similar instructions and yes they are bit confusing. I would say send scanned copy.
Where did you apply for PCC, Local police station or Passport office?

Scanned original copy of PCC. I had to email based on the instructions from the letter.

Hi All,

Hope you all are doing great. I just received invitation to apply email from IRCC to sponsor my parents. I am a bit confused and need your guidance on below points:

1. The documents checklist says we need to submit Marriage Certificate of parents. They don't have it and their passports have their names added.

Is it sufficient? Did someone submitted an alternate and if that worked?

2. Should I get it done by some consultant or myself?

My wife has sponsored her parents in August 2018. Medical was done in feb 2019. In Nov 2020 got a letter from CIC saying case has been transferred to Delhi. No update after that. Any one knows about this? what could be the reason?

That’s a very long time to be waiting. It’s also past the 21 months processing time.
Have you tried calling IRCC or raising a web inquire through the webform?
