If they declare it's not a lottery or add conditions openly, then it means the applications and demand for it drops drastically and America becomes a less attractive destination. By calling it a lottery, people will like to enrol and know their chances of winning it. Visa rejections can be challenged in court, but USCIS doesn't need to show its system in public court with public records. That would be a national security problem.
Errrr.... Nope!

1. BEFORE lottrery it was FCFS and the visa used to get over in hours for whole yeaar. This is why lottery was introduced. So I highly doubt there will ever be an issue of demand.

2. Nope. Visa eligibility is not a national security problem, certain people can be national security issue and they are checked by so called administrative processing.

USC never was a top school. I don't know why people thought it was something special. USC was designed for California students who were mostly celebrities or their children. They are the type of school that doesn't need to do research or prove anything to get grants. They automatically get them from Hollywood parents.
And yet folks coming out of USC get their H1B easy as pie.

Things like these have a security clearance level to access. it's not the next iPhone that leaks around. Just based on talking to friends who went to MIT and CMU and CalTech I can tell you they never hear visa rejections from their cohort unless they really goof up their applications. They aren't even asked questions at interviews (happened to me too).
Obviously, having an accept or a research position in these univs reduces doubts about overstaying and violating visa terms. If you are doing javascript classes from Long Island College of Liberal Arts, Witchcraft and Wizardry then of course it will invite a deeper look. They do not prefer these schools as such but genuineness of other very less known school does raise suspicion.

I saw this, one of my colleague applied for B1 visa he was let in easily. He was telling me another guy in the line was literally crying because it was their 9th attempt and they were rejected. Because they were working for some non-descript IT consultancy firm.

Guys do you anticipate IRCC to conduct at least one Health Care category draw before this year ends ??

Secondly what categories are you anticipating that IRCC will select next year ?

Hi! Has anyone hear any new info or even gossips about STEM draws? Do you think there is a chance that 500 invites going to be final number for STEM category in 2023?..

Is there even a shortage of tech workers in Canada, considering the mass layoffs and trendy AI tools?

They put a lot of NOCs in this group... And I see a demand for industrial engineers, materials engineers, electrical engineers, etc., which are included to STEM NOC group. Maybe I'm not correct in my estimation of this demand. But right now IRCC impacting engineers who are not in IT or software world at all.

You see, for Software engineering, being on west coast I get a lot of opportunities as I am in same timezone as Seattle, SF etc.

Also there was another simple reason: I and my close friend (who is a manager and also had Aus PR) we both could not get a job together in same team in australia. I got the job but he could not, we had just some weeks for internal job search from india. Here in Canada, we both got the job together and later moved in same team. It helps me because that way I know what my manager says behind my back in meetings. So Canada, is the place we all went.
So for tech-related jobs, Canada PR is actually better than Australian PR is it? Mainly because of the proximity to the US?

yes if the immigrants end goal is to move the USA and there is either no family or they are also supportive of the move lol. My kids will lynch me if I ask them to move once more unless IRCC screw us real bad.

Even those industries I doubt the need is real or huge. There is very few of such companies coming up new in Canada nor are existing ones expanding big. Most of those Canadian workers in such jobs don't have opportunity to to move to the USA unlike IT folks. Canada has a lot of these workers and thousands of locals graduate already in such streams. A very small group of naturalized Canadians move to middle east after getting a Canadian passport to enjoy better pay and savings. For the immigrants to come Canada pay in some of those engineering professions are not flashy, even lower than IT pay, most of such workers are well off in their own countries unless they live in war or crime zones.

Yes! A lot of companies have bare bones presence in Australia --limited to sales when it comes to software engineering.
Besides, sitting in canada, I can work with folks in LA, SF, Seattle being in the same timezone. Can not say same about Australians. It increases remote opportunities.
If your company is based out of seattle, it is a day trip away. Or just 20 minutes of helicopter ride away. Helps immensely with business meetings.

To get a E3 one needs to first have an employer to help you. From Australia it is not like driving from Canada and attending an interview and getting selected. E3 needs an LCA which means companies have publish they have recruited a foreign worker, companies need to work with immigration attorneys etc. These are not something small companies on limited budget or no immigration department prefer particularly without knowing the employee well, compared to TN which is supposedly easier.

P.s- I forgot to mention earlier I work for a IT outsourcer with a global presence they don't do E3 prefer H1b if the employee has old ones where 6 years is not expired or the employee has immigrant approvals etc... or do L1s because of the uniformity they have implemented in their Internal systems with HR and immigration. They seem to have learnt their lesson some where that E3 is not a good one to use for their employees
