I would recommend against using two different passports for travel. Here are the risks I foresee:

1. Using the Canadian passport to exit India, there is a risk that you may be asked by an over-enthusiast gate agent of your OCI/e-visa/look for the Visa stamp on your Canadian passport in a bid to understand how you entered the country.

2. If the agent misses that, there is another risk of the immigration officer trying to ascertain how you entered India when you present your Canadian passport to exit the country. In my experience over the years, I have seen a pattern - Immigration at IGI tends to stamp the same page for exit, as they did for entry. Without finding an entry stamp on your passport, doubts would be raised.

Note, even though you may be able to enter India using your Indian passport, you cannot exit the country using it (No PR card)

Neither of what you mentioned are "risks". They are 100% guaranteed to happen. Someone who enters with an Indian passport will not be allowed to leave on a Canadian passport without an exit permit.

Why would an exit permit be issued or should I say, what are requirements for an exit permit for an individual who chose to enter India on an Indian passport, despite in possession of a foreign passport?

You are allowed to travel on an Indian passport for up to 3 months after getting another citizenship. So you can legally go to India in that time. But you have to then surrender the passport at your nearest RPO and then apply for an exit permit at the nearest FRRO. To apply for an exit permit, you need to have a surrender certificate.

If you are allowed to travel upto 3months on Indian passport then why it's a problem to travel from India to Canada on Indian passport?

you are not allowed exit India Canadian passport Canada not allowed entry Indian passport .

NOTE- ASK YOUR FAMLY MEMBER TO GO NEAREST FRRO OFFICE ENQUARE ABOUT EXIT PERMITS FOR CANADIAN NOW DAYS GRANTED OR NOT IF GRANT HOW MUCH TIME HE TAKE .

How about using Indian passport to exit India to a third country and then use Canadian passport for returning Canada (to avoid the risk that you may be asked by an over-enthusiast gate agent of your OCI/e-visa/look for the Visa stamp on your Canadian passport in a bid to understand how you entered the country?

Makes sense. Thanks for clarifying.

Because to travel to Canada on an Indian passport. you will need a Canadian PR card. A PR card is cut-up during oath ceremony for Canadian citizenship. So you cannot travel back to Canada from India on an Indian passport.

There is no good option and some barely ethical ones. Better to wait this out, if you can. A visa to any country is a privilege. Once you are a Canadian citizen, you no longer have the right to travel to India ( or any other country that requires a visa for Canadian nationals ).

I would not put future travel/OCI in jeopardy by trying to workaround the current suspension of visa to Canadian nationals. But of course, everyone's situation is different, so hope this settles soon.

Has anyone who applied for a visa before the suspension tried contacting the consulate? Might be worth asking if they’ll at least process ones that were in range! It’s super unfair otherwise
