Chances of getting ITA before PGWP expiration

Hello, I never thought I would be in this situation but here we're once again with no express entry draws for a month now.

My current CRS score is 496 and my PGWP is expiring on end of June, 2024. I am a bit scared as it is getting cut-to-cut now. What are the chances they do draws again and score drops below 500? Also, it doesn't seem like they will allow PGWP extension for work permits expiring in 2024.

Learn French and take the French language test to boost your score further and also qualify for the French stream draws with lower cut offs. You have the runway to do this before your PGWP expires. That's the best move to give yourself some insurance.

From what I have heard, it’s incredibly hard to learn French and pass the test within 8-9 months I will still take a look

Plenty on this forum have done it in less than a year. Your current score is certainly good but none of us can tell you what is going to happen and your chances of being selected with that score. If you want a guarantee, then IMO, learning French and taking the French test is the way to get that guarantee.

I second Scylla. Plenty of us learned French and improved CRS.

Go back in history of this forum to see 440s in 2018-2019, 460s in 2020-2021 and you'll see how many of them never got their ITA as they thought CRS would come down and said "CLB9 in IELTS is very hard". CLB9 is not even considered a hurdle these days, French will be the same after 2 years.

Fwiw, if IRCC repeats the pattern, CRS can float at 500 and you can narrowly keep missing your chance. Best if you learn and add a few points to safeguard yourself as much as you can.

I can personally relate to this... While mine was a Non-EE PNP, I almost lost my chance for the Non-EE PNP cut-off. The language test was not mandatory for my OINP stream but gave extra points if you have one. Without that IELTS, I would have been 1 point shy of the cut off for that draw. But with my IELTS, I was a few points above. Lesson learned, if it is your future at stake, have some sort of buffer which could give you all the advantage that you can get.

Well said ! Back in 2018 when I started the process 440s was a norm for cutoff. Then there was pause for a week in Feb 2019 (IIRC), the cut off shot to 450 something and everyone panicked.

As mentioned, no harm in being over prepared, you never know what advantage that will bring to you Best luck !

Besides EE, also look into PNP programs and other programs. Find all the programs that are closest to your situation and choose. Good luck
