So you cannot show job experience. You are working in your family business for free.

If you want to do a MBA in the US, then focus on that. A Canadian post grad program is of no benefit in getting admission. And you aren’t getting a Canadian degree but a web development diploma, which can probably been done online.

Low-gpa so can't exactly focus on that since I would be wasting my admissions fees. atleast with a postgraduate certificate I could show that I have the ability to perform in my program. My last two years were working for actual companies 9-6 with working on the family business after hours and weekends.

All classes are in person, cannot be done online.

In that case I don't see how you can show this as work experience.
Just to clarify, I have work experience in established companies over the last two years with signed and stamped paperwork issued by them confirming I worked there. I focus on the family business after hours and on weekends and have not even listed it.

Got it. So then focus your application on the work experience with established companies. If you can get a letter from one of the established companies saying they will give you a job when you return after completing education in Canada, that would be good.

I'm not sure a job offer from your family business really has any value at all. But I guess you can include that if you want to reapply.

Returning to a company where you've resigned would be a massive issue, I have never had such a thing happen to me before. I spent some time in the US even, on a b1/b2, and returned.

IDK even how I should approach my boss "hey, I am leaving for one year for my post graduate degree, can you give letter saying you'd hire me back ?"

I misunderstood your post and thought you were still working for one of these companies (and for the family business after hours). If you are no longer working for them, then I agree.

I just think a job offer from your family business holds no real value.

Scylla, I appreciate your responses on here.

I am currently employed for context, I only plan on leaving in January; completing 1.1 years in my current role (a few days before school starts) and Spent 1 years in my previous role.

As you rightly pointed out a job offer probably holds no real value. I am a part owner of a property here, would my documents there work ?

I partially own properties, do you think that would be better proof ?

It might or it might not help. Certainly can't harm.

Hey there, bummer about the refusal. It looks like they're concerned about your ties to your home country and the purpose of your visit. Maybe providing more concrete evidence of your family ties and your intentions for a temporary stay could help? Financial support from your dad is good, but showing your own stability might be important too. You could consider reapplying with a stronger focus on these points. Best of luck!
Currently working on that. Honestly, I worked hard to build a profile that could get into a graduate profile, only to be blocked by a bureaucrat. I plan on showing my own stability this time around as well. While I did not think of it from this point, there is so little space to submit proof I left it out. I had my statements, In fact I paid my first semester fees on my own.

Hi I just got my atip request back,

I feel like I am getting railroaded by chinook3+ here
  1. generic I am not satisfied you will leave Canada
  2. you don't not have family ties outside- I indicated my parents live outside of Canada
  3. the purpose of your visit to Canada is not consistent with a temporary stay
  4. your current employment situation does not show you are financially established - my parents are paying for my studies

1/3. What did you show that you will leave Canada at the end of your studies. You don’t live in your country of citizenship so what are your ties to India.
2. Parents are not a tie to return. You are over 22.
4. So you aren’t financially established if parents paying. What is your employment now? Again if over 22, you should be showing that you can afford your sties.

  1. Supporting my family, and wanting to start a business here since I understand the demographics - in my next application, I will show properties owned, thinking of mentioning the blog I write for and the meetups I host. I can also get letters from other perspective employers willing to hire me once I am back.
  2. I am 25
  3. Parents are paying on paper, I am going to be paying from my savings, I paid my first semester fees and plan on showing that as proof but my end-of-service payments would be paying for the rest thus the letter of support from my family.
very stressful scenario right now.....

Getting a study permit as a mature students is unfortunately not that straightforward.

I see two issues:
  • Where your parents live at your age is not so significant. You are free to move around and choose not to go back to UAE/India. You will want to show how your study is going to strengthen your career back home. This likely means you need relevant work experience back home. Also as Naturgrl mentioned, learning web development is not a great reason to attend college in Canada. There are better programs out there that are likely online and cheaper.
  • Since you are an adult, you should be supporting yourself financially. You should show your bank statements + proof of your income for the previous years. Again, you are an adult; your father isn't responsible for your financial situation. If he's supporting you, he should just send you the money and you should show that as proof.

Most of my liquid cash is tied up in the stock market at the moment, with one semester's fees paid by me already, thus the letter of support from my dad. I am paying for everything myself. However, I will be using my above sources plus my end-of-service pay to accommodate this.

My reasons for studying web dev are quite simple, I need the structure of a classroom to study and be guided while not paying an arm and leg for a subpar education in the UAE/India. That said, the value of Western education is much higher here than an of Eastern one.
