How to apply child care benefits ?

Hi, We just got protected person status ( Got brown ID ). We have three children all under 18. I am working full time employee ( every month tax deduction from my salary). My wife is not working. please advice how I can apply for CCB and I should apply for my wife should apply? Please note that we never file yearly tax. Thank you

Thank you for your reply. I came in Canada on Dec 2022 while got protected on July 2023. So now i can't fie tax because last/due date passed. So how can i apply for CCB without apply tax file for this year ?

Did u get your notice of decision (NOD) or just the refugee ID? Because with the brown ID only, you will not be eligible for the CCB.

I think you are confused with your status, as previously said, you are refugee claimant. You should wait your hearing and after that if it’s positive, then you can apply right away for child benefits

Since there is no taxes filed, CRA cant determine amount eligible for CCB and they are reluctant to max out on presumption of zero revenue both in Canada and in foreign country. You can apply next year after you file your 2023 taxes. I assume you had no income since you arrived Dec 2022 and you were non-resident for tax purpose. Once you apply next year, CRA will retro pay your CCB.

Note: Normally A Wife should be one to apply provided you live together.
