Hi Scholars,
I have got my COPR while I am in Canada. I am planning to sponsor my wife but the PR card seems to be taking longer time than usual. Can I sponsor my wife on the basis of COPR that I received on the PR portal?

or

If not, then, is it possible to get PR card by flag polling? so that I can upload my PR card to submit my spouse's Sponsorship application?

Any help is much appreciated.

The PR card will be mailed to you. You cannot get a PR card by flagpoling.

I don't think you need to have the PR card to submit the sponsorship application. However I could be mistaken on that front.

Do not need the PR card, the COPR (signed and dated) should be enough. May want to include short letter of explanation that PR card not yet received.

Thank you so much for your reply. That makes my life easier. Do you know where can i find a sample for that explanation? or what points should be better to include in the letter so that the visa officer understands the situation.

It really is as simple as brief explanation, dear whomever, I have not included a copy of PR card because I have not received it yet. It has been applied for [online or however you did it, date] and is expected in due course.

Write it however you like of course.

As short and factual as possible. You're not apologizing, nothing unusual or wrong in your situation. PR status is not the card.

Just clarifying when did you land as a PR and when did you get married? If you were married before landing as a PR was you spouse listed as mom-accompanying on your PR application?

I submitted my application under cec class and i was in canada. I got my copr and confirmed my address while i am in canada. Basically i got married in December 2022 and came back to canada (i was on work permit at that moment) and after coming to canada in 2023 February (included my wife as non-accompanying) , I applied for PR in march and got copr in July 11. ( i got portal request to upload photo and address in june though) it took a while to get copr after uploading photo and giving the Canadian address. Still waiting for pr card.
