Hi All,
I am a Canadian citizen and I have a five-year-old child who is born is foreign country. I have submitted proof of citizenship for my child online, but haven't heard back from IRCC yet. Therefore my child is not a citizen yet. I am now applying the permanent residency for my spouse. Do I need to include my child in section B of IMM5406 or IMM0008?

It'll be appreciated if any of you can help to clarify.

If you read the instructions, it will (should) say in there that you do NOT include the child in the main application form (a citizen should not apply to become a PR), you DO include in the family information form, and also add a short letter of explanation with info on the child's citizenship (basically, include a copy of the app for proof of citizenship).

I say should as the online instructions are a bit different than they used to be and apparently a bit more confusing.

Thanks a lot for your advice. The wierd thing about online application is that now you have to add the child to the principle applicants' profile, then it will automatically pop up in all online forms. Though I think I should not include my child in IMM0008 since he should be considered a Canadian citizen. I have no idea how to make the change, but hopefully a letter of explanation will work.

Yes, that part is weird, and we've heard conflicting things about how to deal with it. Definitely be sure to include the letter of explanation, that your child is a citizen, and copy of the citizenship proof application.

The next hurdle will be if IRCC sends instructions for medical examination. This is NOT needed and you should not pay for it.

That really make sense. Thank you. I will watch for that when I proceed to the payment.
