Hello all,

Does anyone know if Canadian citizenship applications of non-working people get accepted? If a person has not been employed during the residency period of 3 years, is there an impact on the application for citizenship? Other than employment status, all requirements are met. Please advise. Thanks : )

Nop no affect.
Make sure though your taxes are filed for at least 3 yrs of the eligibility period even if you had no income.

I think it could slow down processing of your application, since they for some reason seem to be more convinced that you actually resided in Canada if you had a job here. If you were unemployed they might want to do extra checks, or declare that your application is non-routine and shelf it for months or years.
But it doesn't affect your eligibility in any way, so you should apply. If it takes too long, you can hire a lawyer later. It might just be processed quickly though, with IRCC you can never guess what they might do and when.

I'd add to this: it would probably help if there is some explanation of what you were doing, like schooling or volunteering or raising kids or something.
