Hello all. I had a question. My friend is married and she doesn't work (her husband works and provides her with financial support). She is applying for a visitor visa and for some reasons she wants her sister to financially support her trip. What should she put under do you depend on someone for financial support and further documents? It is confusing because she doesn't actually rely on her sister for daily expenses just for this trip.

Hi!

I understand your friend's situation. It can be confusing to know what to put on a visitor visa application if you are not the main financial provider for yourself.

In your friend's case, she should put her husband as the main financial provider on her application. She should also provide documentation to support this, such as a copy of her husband's most recent pay stub and a letter from him stating that he will be financially supporting her trip.
However, she can also indicate that her sister will be providing financial support for her trip. She should provide documentation to support this as well, such as a copy of her sister's most recent pay stub and a letter from her sister stating that she will be financially supporting her trip.
It is important to be honest and transparent on your visitor visa application. If you are not the main financial provider for yourself, but you have someone who is willing to financially support your trip, you should be sure to indicate this on your application.

Here are some additional tips for completing a visitor visa application:
  • Be sure to answer all of the questions on the application honestly and completely.
  • Provide all of the required documentation.
  • Proofread your application carefully before submitting it.
  • If you have any questions, be sure to contact the visa office for assistance.
I hope this helps!

Thank you for replying to my question. However, the point is that she does not want to include any documents from her husband and she has her personal reasons. It is her sister who wants to support her trip. My question is that do we have to specifically say that her husband is supporting her in her life but here are some documents indicating her sister being her trip's supporter or just not complicate the situation by talking about her husband. I assume it would be weird.

Generally there would be very low chances the visa will be approved in this scenario. Is her sister living in Canada as a PR or citizen?

I see. In that case, your friend should not mention her husband on her visitor visa application. She should simply state that her sister is the one who will be financially supporting her trip. She should provide documentation to support this, such as a copy of her sister's most recent pay stub and a letter from her sister stating that she will be financially supporting her trip.

The visa officer will want to see evidence that your friend has enough money to support herself during her stay in Canada. If your friend's sister is able to provide this evidence, then there is no need to mention her husband.

I hope this helps!

Be aware that she will be required to declare her marital status in the application and must say she is married. Failing to do this will put her at risk of a five year ban from Canada. So IRCC will know she has a spouse.

Why is that? There's nothing wrong. She has the money she needs for her trip and an invitation letter from a friend. No her sister is supporting her from their home country. They live in the same country.

Of course, She is not gonna lie or hide anything in her application. The point is that it is her sister who is supporting her trip so logically she should declare that right?

Yes, she will have to declare that her sister is supporting her since she will need to provide evidence of her sister's fund (e.g. bank statement) and explain how the person funding her travels is related to her.

Unfortunately her sister supporting her and her being unemployed significantly weakens her application. Does she have previous travel to countries requiring visas such as the US, UK, etc? If so, definitely include these details since that will help her case. If she has children who are remaining at home while she travels, that will help as well. Can she show any property ownership where she is listed as owner? That will help too.

Yes she does have a few real estate properties that she owns and have previously travelled to many countries including UK
