I would proactively submit a webform with an updated and *correct* calculation of your Physical Presence. Add a letter with an explanation that you missed it. If you are doing Mandamus, talk to the lawyer and follow their advice
Could this be the reason why my security is also taking so long?

Criminal records check (Criminality) is done by RCMP. Security Clearance is issued by CSIS. Security Clearance takes about 8 months when a more thorough check is required. Looks like yours has taken longer than that. Physical Presence check is mostly done at the end when they are finalising the application. The only way to find out what is going on is to order GCMS notes

Criminal checks are valid for 12 months and Security is valid for 4 years...

I ordered GCMS notes in late 2022 from IRCC and never received it. I recently ordered another one from IRCC and CBSA. But can I file a Mandamus in few months if nothing changes with Security being in progress?

The validity period starts from the date when CPC-S requests RCMP/CSIS the clearance or from the date when its completed/conducted by RCMP/CSIS and reported to and/or updated by CPC-S?
In my previous GCMS notes, security had no validity date (perhaps redacted), but now I see validity date (perhaps unredacted). I'm assuming that perhaps security results are already been reported by CSIS to CPC-S, hence the validity date is there now, but CPC-S yet not updated the status. Any idea about validity date is started from when?

The validity should be 12 months from the date RCMP or 4 years from the date CSIS issued the clearance

Well here's the thing: both my criminality and security started on 08 Feb, 2023, where criminality passed with validity of 08 Feb 2024, status updated on 09 Feb 2024; whereas, security status is 'pending results' but have a validity date of 08 Feb 2027 with same status update date of 09 Feb 2023. Given 5 months passed, my eyes are on july/Aug for security to be completed, but validity date also makes me wonder that perhaps CSIS performed security clearance check and sent results to CPC-S, who yet didn't updated the reveived results or worked further.

It could be possible. One thing you can do is apply for ATIP notes from CSIS.

I remember reading one member here found that CPC-S never even sent a request (or CSIS lost the request) to start the clearance after getting ATIP response from CSIS

Yeah I did that already on May 12, passing due date, followed up to CSIS and they reponded that analyst is still processing my request/file. Eagerly waiting for their response as well, the thing you mentioned is definitely scary, but not surprising at all, given fanfluches we hear everyday when it comes to IRCC.

All of this can be solved by having a more accountable and reliable systems - IT systems to communicate and keep track of requests and responses between IRCC, CSIS, RCMP, ESDC (Service Canada), and CBSA.

I can't believe they still wait for RCMP to send paper Criminal History Check reports back to IRCC via Canada Post after you submit fingerprints

Does this mean that if someone waits for longer than 4 years after their PR landing, the security clearance that was performed during your PR application has expired and that IRCC has to perform security screening again (for the citizenship application)? Also, does background showing as complete on the tracker indicate that just the RCMP check has been completed and security check is still pending?

Background check complete means everything related to it is complete. Nothing is pending.

Here's another example: CSIS told me as I requested as a guest account without sign up, hence they will mail me atip response once ready to my mailing address (why just can't they email me, lol). I didnt opted for mail. Nonetheless, lets see when and what I receive, then will follow up further with IRCC.

I asked for email as well, but they sent me a paper letter and a CD to my home address. I figured it's just how they roll...
Then it was fun to dig out an old laptop to be able to read that CD (CD has different documents from the ones they printed out).
To their credit, they were fairly quick, something like 3 weeks from sending a request to getting the letter.

Huh? Really? I wonder why my test invite post background clearance is delayed then? It has been more than a month and most people get their test invite within 2 days of their background clearance.
