it shall be well, you may land in Toronto and moved your wife to Calgary for the delivery or land in Calgary .the reason for Calgary is that you are entitled to medical cover from the day of landing.please don't stress yourself too much.

but you will need to stay in Calgary for a while once you have done that else the province will send you a bill home if they find out you just moved for the medical expenses.

Yes they will.

There was someone on this forum a while back who tried this and ended up being billed around $38K by the province she left.

The child delivery cost in Canada can be even 1 million dollar. see this -

Hello All,
I have a query regarding Canadian OHIP coverage for pregnancy-related expenses. I currently have a work permit, but my PR application is being processed. Do all pregnancy-related costs under OHIP coverage apply to me while I have a work permit?

2. I need to know the procedure to get myself registered with a gynaecologist.
3. what if it is a premature delivery before the OHIP is active. will I get any medical support from OHIP.

Firstly I had plans to deliver the baby in Canada only but as most of you are aware that in Ontario province medical insurance is entitled after 3 months and the cost/quotation which I have got from the hospital varies between 10 - 15 k. (To add I had informed CHC about the pregnancy at the time of Medical and my wife did her medicals including the xray)

The 3 month rule has been waived for several years now. It might come back some day. But for the last several years there has been no 3 month wait time.
