I arrived in Canada 2 days ago with the help of UNHCR and IOM.

I will be happy to help others (refugees) looking for information on how to proceed.

Here's my refugee timeline:

02 February 2021: First attempt to escape Pakistan from Lahore airport failed; passport was listed as "flagged" by FIA.
21 February 2021: Escaped, and arrived in Bangkok (Thailand)
15 March 2021: Submitted documents to UNHCR, Bangkok for registration as "asylum seeker" in Thailand.
23 March 2021: UNHCR interviewed and accepted me as an asylum seeker in Thailand
5 July 2021: UNHCR conducted my RSD interview
13 September 2021: UNHCR in Thailand recognized me as a 'protected refugee'
17 November 2022: UNHCR conducted my resettlement interview
7 February 2023: UNHCR informed me that my file is being forwarded to the Canadian embassy for resettlement.
8 February 2023: The Canadian embassy in Singapore asked me to reconfirm my postal address, phone, and email.
9 February 2023: The Canadian embassy sent me BIL (Biometrics Information Letter)
10 February 2023: The Canadian embassy sent me a Medical Exam Request
13 February 2023: I completed both biometrics and medical examination
21 February 2023: At the IRCC website checking tool, my status changed from "in processing" to "Decision Made"
21 February 2023: The Canadian embassy sent me a letter to sign up for "Pre-Arrival Services"
13 March 2023: The IOM (Thailand) sent me some forms to fill out for my flight loan and Emergency Travel Document.
24 May 2023: I landed at Vancouver airport, my life as a refugee was officially over, and I became Canada's Permanent Resident.

permenant resident already?
Those who get resettled from abroad (usually government sponsored refugees) or get sponsored through private sponsorship go through all the processing abroad so they arrive in Canada and land as PRs. One of the reasons processing usually takes a lot of time. Often UNHCR has already determined that a person is a refugee so that does save some time and effort for IRCC. Only a very small number of refugees who want to get resettled are ever resettled (believe under 1%) at it usually takes much longer. Many wait over a decade to even be selected for resettlement and then go through processing.
