Paper definitely is the way to go.
My family applied for citizenship on May 30th, they have seen movement already.
I applied on March 5th online, 0 movement since then.
I have also seen paper applicants receive citizenship in record time.
In fact a member I know applied online, his wife and son applied on paper one month after him (they applied in May) and the wife and kid got citizenship in September. The guy is still waiting for his application to begin processing.
In short, apply on paper.

I have been well, Canada has been good to me. I was already in Ontario when I got PR, and then been here since.

Hello All, i have completed around 1147 days and am planning to file my citizenship application. Any ideas whether i should go online or through paper based. I see this thread mentioning paper being faster, however is that still the case or should i proceed online.
In my opinion, you should go with Paper. Online sucks. Regret it everyday.
My wife applied 3 months after me (June 2022). I applied March 2022, and she just got the test invitation today. I will complete exactly 10 months tomorrow. No test for me yet (only BG complete).

It depends if you are in hurry and want to go for paper. I have seen couple of folks in my neighborhood applied online and completed their oath in 12 months. And I have also seen folks applied on paper and waited for 16 months and some even got in 6 months. Given that chances of paper is significantly faster it depends on which officer takes your file at the end of the day/your processing office/ and your luck
PS: I will be applying online this month. PROS - Quick and easy to apply, No headaches on printing and creating file (go green) CONS - its slower then paper but that's not a guarantee.

Yes, paper > online trend still holds. With paper, your AOR might come slightly later, but your application will be processed much faster.
I doubt this is true for 2023.
If you check Google sheet for 2023 all the ones who got Oath within < 150 days are online ones.
Also 95+% of decision made are Online ones. Personally I feel the paper speed has lost its momentum.
Totally agreed! Coin is flipping since March, and more recently post-strike online cases are picking up momentum, but its all temporal and volatile trends in nature as when it comes to predicting IRCC, just tip of iceberg so much dynamism and let alone the distinct case complexity as well. No true for our family who applied in 2023. My husband & my daughter (minor) applied via paper & I applied online at the same time (Feb14). I received my aor on Feb28 while they received them on Mar22. I was invited for test in early April but they still got nothing since the aor.
P.S. I know someone who applied online on Feb 7 and just got invited for the oath ceremony on May25. Super fast.
