I don’t think you understand their use of rhetoric.

They say majority of members voted for the strike.

That’s false.

Out of the 35% of members who voted the majority voted for the strike. That much is true. However, 35% of the members is not a minority of members. It is also not a true representation of how the remaining members would have voted as the union shortened the voting window by 8 days.

There’s a lot of union actions that could and should be questioned.

The difference here, is not only that 35% voted, but that all kinds of games and manipulative tactics were used by the Union leadership to keep voter turnout extremely low!

By ensuring that only the “most ardent” workers get to cast a ballot (by placing barriers in the way), their desired outcome was guaranteed!!

Strike enters day 12 and today is the make or break day for union to make their final decision.

Yesterday, Canadian government clearly stated that their new offer is the final offer.

Today, the union will be deciding whether they should accept the offer and call off the strike or not.

If union accepts the government’s offer, then strike will end and employees will return to work as soon as tomorrow.

However, if union rejects the new offer, then we will see the strike dragging on to whole next week because feds will not come back with another offer sooner.

Strike attendance means nothing! Most of those people are there for the $75 a day strike pay (which they need desperately). In fact, there are several interviews, by media, where the strikers look bored and disinterested, and some even openly expressing frustration at being there!

If the union does reject this offer (which I would consider to be pretty magnanimous of the government - and I say this as someone who is not a fan of this government by any stretch of the imagination), then we very well could see back-to-work legislation in the next few days (provided the Conservatives are on board as well).

You do realize in that case there are a lot of rules related to crossing picket lines like employee can decide to be a "rand" or leave the union all together?

Also lets clarify on the supposed shortening of voting deadlines:

• The voting period for the strike vote was originally set to be between February 22, 2023, and April 19, 2023.
• On March 6, 2023, the period was revised END to end on April 11, 2023, rather than on April 19, 2023.
• The reason for change: to ensure voting is completed before the mediation session with the treasury board.
• The change was then communicated via
  • updating its main webpage
  • updating the voting website
  • updating previous online posts
  • changing generic and targeted emails to employees
  • several social-media posts
  • including, in a digital advertising campaign, links to content that included the revised voting period.

So if members really wanted to vote "No" as you claim, pretty sure Feb 22 to April 11 is way long enough to do that. Also the decision was made and communicated more than a month before the NEW end date.
