That's not just unethical, it's downright illegal and against protocol to casually process someone's application as urgent for personal reasons. I applied for urgent processing before the strike with a proven urgent need to travel to see by dying father (can't get a passport).

your story, if true, has taken away any respect I had left for the IRCC an system at large.
If his story is true, we need to tweet and let everyone know what they are doing. IRCC needs to be exposed for such illegal activity.

I think his comment needs to be saved and a complaint needs to be filed. Because this is in fact unethical. What about the countless others whos applications are backlogged and aren't able to join their picket lines because they actually have to WORK?

From June 2023, we may do self-adm oath. We already have e-citizenship certificates. Incompetent IRCC workers just need to complete BC and LPP. Even BC is done by other departments, still these ircc cry babies say they are under pressure since they are developing SPACE X rocket algorithm. BS.
Everyone is assuming that all of us will have the ability to do a "self-administered" oath come June. Keep in mind that we MIGHT NOT be offered this option.

They might offer it only to new applicants, who have not yet been scheduled for oath!! (just like they did with the e-certificate)!!!

I truly hope I'm wrong, and ALL OF US can get that option, but the way IRCC does things, nothing is off the table!!

Alright lads, so i've been on here sporadically and hate weighing in an opinion usually, but really why is everyone getting their knickers in a twist, most of us directly impacted are having our oath ceremony cancelled we are in like the last steps of the whole process ( for delay's if your application is under the service standard time, like whats the bother), so what if its another month or two, for most of us this was a second citizenship cause we reside and want to call this place home. Unless you are absolutely in a pinch for where you need this for work which 90% off us aren't. Just let it all play out. Have a bevvy, enjoy the spring weather and wonder how awesome your lives are.

Mostly people are worried about how the applications will be dealt after the strike will be over. Many of us believe that our applications may be lost somewhere in the queue and there no way to get an update. At the same time, we have been checking the tracker regularly to get the Oath dates and once it go so close it, it got moved.
Many have travel plans, many are having their PR cards expiring. Also, the news is only saying "we are at the negotiation table and making progress" so that all adds to anxiety. Sometimes there are other aspect in a person's life that can keep them so busy that they hardly get time to think about it, sometimes its not. I can understand everyone have their own story so I cant really comment on this much. But I am down for a bevvy :)
