Hi,

I am an open work permit in Canada (with experience in caregiver). My husband is an international student. I have the following questions:
1) If I wish to apply as in home child care in Canada, will my employer require to apply for LMIA? Note: I am in Canada already as OWP.
2) Will we be qualified to apply for PR if I work over 1 year as in home caregiver in Canada?

Note: I plan to apply for PR after April 30, 2023.

thanks!

They're not issuing LMIAs for caregivers anymore.
Yes, you will qualify if you were working legally in Canada under 44101 or 44110.

You can apply through the Gaining Experience category through HCCP program. You need 2 years in Canada for the Direct to PR stream.

Correct but up until April 30, you need 2 years of Canadian experience. OP says over 1 year. Gaining experience category is closed until January.
I don't know why you're splitting hairs. Best of luck with your application original poster.
