Travel History vs Personal History.

This has been asked a few times before but none of the replies I have seen really answer the question for me.

So, I'm from England, lived in Australia for 2 years, then travelled multiple countries in Southeast Asia for 4 months, and then lived in New Zealand for 2 years. I have listed all of the countries I visited in my travel history. What do I need to say for the country and town etc for the period during which I was in Southeast Asia? Some people have said to say at home in England and unemployed with a note saying "travelling, see travel history" but I fear this would be misleading as I didn't go home at all.

Thank you for your time

Benny

This depends on your status while travelling. When you travelled, were you still employed and were just simply taking a long vacation? If so, you should include these 4 months with your employment entry on personal history and explain this on your Letter of Explanation. If not, then I would list all countries travelled on the personal history as unemployed and indicate "travelling/tourism" as "what was this person doing during this period".

Hope this helps.

Hi I am in similar situation.
Did you got an answer for this query? And how did you enter those 8 days in your personal and travel history.

I have a similar situation where I was remotely employed but I went for 3 months to another country during that period for job search.

Definitely include in the travel history, for personal history I think the best is to list it separately and say remotely employed and doing job search at the same time, that should be hood

Thanks. So in Personal history, should I split my employment during that time or keep employment duration as it is and overlap it with 3 months visit to another country?

Option 1:
Employed: Oct 2014 to Oct 2016
Visit Qatar: Oct 2016 to Jan 2017

Option 2:
Employed: Oct 2014 to Jan 2017
Visit Qatar: Oct 2016 to Jan 2017

Note: I am not claiming points for this work.

I would probably do option 1, and mention remote work in Both. To be honest I don’t think this is a big deal either way because it’s not related to points.

Yes, I would have totally removed the 3 months from my experience:
and say Employed: Oct 2014 to Oct 2016
But the thing is that I mentioned the experience during work permit application as Oct 2014 to Jan 2017.
So I guess changing that will alert CIC and they might ask questions about that.

Sorry I don’t understand why it’s removing the experience, you are still employed it should say employed? Just the location changed

It's not...

It's me who wanted to remove it to avoid complexity... But I think that's not good idea considering I submitted that information during WP application.

Yeah don’t create inconsistencies and things that you can’t explain. They probably won’t compare the 2 applications unless you give them a reason to, but since you WERE employed just say employed.

Thanks.

I have another question...
In travel history do we have to mention all trips even for vacation between Residence country and Citizen country?

I worked in Qatar Residence from 2017 to 2022 being an Indian Citizen.
I had 1-2 trips every year during that period to India on 3-4 weeks vacation.

Maybe you can watch this video
Different people have different interpretations, personally I included trips back to my home country while residing in Canada, and all the trips I took out of my home country when I was residing there.
I think it’s also a good idea to have LOE explaining what you included and what you didn’t just for clarity. As long as you didn’t go to Syria to be a fighter I don’t think they care much about the actual travel history, adding some explanation will add to your credibility imo and remove any doubt.

Okay.
So, while I was residing and working in Qatar, I can just list the trips to India. I don't have to mention my trip back to my resident country after the vacation ends.
And so now, as I am living in Canada, I will have to mention the first trip that I took from India to Canada.

Yeah it’s tricky with those one way trips where your country of residence changes. I didn’t include those (like my first trip from home country to Canada), but mentioned that in the LOE
