Spousal Sponsorship- Ireland question

Hi,

I have been thinking about sponsoring my partner who currently lives in Ireland, I was wondering if anyone knows how long outland sponsorship takes through the London office. Aslo, how long can I visit him while sponsoring as a PR?

I would go the inland route if possible, however processing times have gone up for an OWP and processing in general. Any advice? he is over 35, so no International Experience visa, only visit visas are applicable unless I am missing something.

Standard processing time is 12 months - that doesn't count the time to prepare your application which can take months in between certificates, photos and other necessary information. Are you married, or can you prove a common-law/conjugal relationship?

No IEC visa - he lost his chance due to age.

Up to you to bring him inland, you'll have to be very mindful that when he gets to the border the CBSA will be asking very tough questions about why he's here and how he can support himself.

Thanks for the reply, I have since edited it to it being the London office, I know some take longer than others. It is good to know that it is still 12 months or so after applying.

We are currently in a conjugal relationship, so this is more so just to get a better understanding of what can be done once applicable.

Unless there are any true immigration barriers preventing you from getting married, or living together for 12 months or more, a conjugal application will fail. He could come to Canada to visit (if approved) and extend the visitor visa to reach the 12 month cohabiting together requirement to then apply as your common-law partner. Yes, it would be inconvenient for him/you, because he would be unable to work in Canada or have health care, but that in and of itself does not qualify for valid reasons to apply via a conjugal sponsorship.

Fastest option would be for you to travel to get married (in-person, since IRCC does not recognize a proxy marriage) and then submit the Outland application when you return, while he waits in Ireland.

It says that Processing times for an initial work permit from inside Canada is 146 days online or 17 days if requested on paper, I am a bit confused. How long does it take to process and average OWP upon application with all the other documents?

That doesn't apply to a spousal sponsorship OWP.

Things changed (for the better?) last September. Oh, I had no idea, and how long does that usually take for now from the AOR to be processed? Thank you for letting me know, it has been a while.

Nobody can really say with any level of certainty how long an Outland takes, or even which office [exactly] would process it. London seems logical for you two, but it's always up to IRCC to do something different.

I would suspect that the process time to assess a marriage, would be shorter (and easier for you) because you do not need to provide living together for one year or more, like a common law couple does, so that would eliminate at least part of the you and IRCC. Check some of the Outland threads here (some have spreadsheets) to get some ideas.
