Hi,

The CRS tool has an option - two or more certificates, diplomas or degrees - one must be for a program for 3 years or more.

Which all certificates are included in it - I have a 4 years BTech degree from a recognized university, I want to include a certificate to bump up my score. Please help.

Thanks

Will this course - https://www.coursera.org/degrees/statistics-data-analytics-pgdip-isi be eligible for two or more certificates, diplomas or degrees?

It is a 6 months Post Graduate Certificate; how can I check it's validity?

Thanks

Well. I don’t know the answer, but I imagine that 1 degree has to be Bachelor’s degree and another one should either be a Bachelor’s degree or a Postgraduate degree, so it’s still something more substantial than just a certificate.

For example, some MBA programs in some countries don’t qualify to be called Master’s degree, but rather are considered to be Executive Postgraduate degrees due to their length - often 1 year degrees instead of 2. Another example is ACCA certification, which many BSc accountants can get within 2-3 years by passing ~4 exams and which once obtained gives you a BSc from Oxford Brooks University.

In any case, your certificate or diploma has to be assessed and you should get an ECA for it to be able to claim points for it. I would imagine that a full 1-year online postgraduate degree from Coursera could count for it, but I am not aware of such. Their online official BSc and MSc are as expensive as in-class degrees and if you have to use 1 year to obtain one you might consider to get a proper Masters and get more points for it.

Hopefully anyone else who chose this option and it worked out for him/her, can share what the 2nd diploma was about.

Indian Statistical Institute won't mail your transcripts for this to WES, so Coursera shouldn't count. The process for WES to evaluate this would require you to select Indian Statistical Institute, and there's no option to do so in WES(I just checked). IIRC even PMP doesn't get evaluated by WES to bump scores either.

Old discussions around this topic (although not specific to 6 month certificates): https://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/threads/stanford-certificate-wes-evaluation.744314/

Thanks, I understand why this won't be counted.

Can you please give your opinion for this course - https://bits-pilani-wilp.ac.in/pgd/post-graduate-diploma-in-fintech.php ?

Birla Institute of Technology and Science is in the list of WES Equivalency tool; this course is offered by BITS directly and is UGC approved.

Thanks

I made an error in responding earlier

This "would require you to select Indian Statistical Institute, and there's no option to do so in WES"

should be "would require you to select Coursera, and there's no option to do so in WES"

The BITS Pilani one is a two semester program which seemed to be offering a degree certificate. Technically that should be good, but check with someone here or somewhere else on how it gets evaluated. There are so many here who did PGDM MBA and it wasn't counted as masters by WES, so, always a possibility of a surprise with these things.

Thanks for your response. I am not expecting it to be counted as Masters. My expectations is for this diploma and my BTech to counted as "two or more certificates, diplomas or degrees - one must be for a program for 3 years or more." - I hope that will work.

Can you please guide where I can confirm it?

Thanks

I'm certainly out of depth here to give you a 100% right answer. Consider tagging a few senior members who'd know this a lot more better than I do.
