Hello everyone,

I am a permanent resident of Canada, and my mother wishes to come and live with me after my father's recent passing. She already has a super visa, but has not yet used it to travel. I am hoping that she can stay with me for several years while I make plans for the future.

I am concerned about any potential issues she may face at the border due to my father's passing. Does anyone have any suggestions or advice on this matter?

Thank you in advance.

She can come visit you as long as she can continue meeting the requirements of a supervisa for 5 years (with a possible extension for 2 years) but can’t move to Canada. She is expected to return home at a certain point.

With the parent and grandparent super visa, eligible parents and grandparents can visit family in Canada for up to two years without the need to renew their status. The Super Visa is a multi-entry visa that provides multiple entries for a period up to 10 years. Conduent Connect
