Hey @thomas23! Today marks 6 weeks on our application. My medical was updated on March 20, 4.5 weeks after our application on February 16. My husband's medical hasn't been updated yet. Our review of eligibility has changed to "we are reviewing whether you meet..." something we did not have on our first application.

Are you talking about medical request or medical update? Have you done an upfront medical exam and applied via SDS or have you applied via non-SDS category without a medical?

In the first case, you should not be worried at all as many people have reported that there medicals have never been updated, not even after they've received their PPRs. I believe @ridhamp00 is one of those people ;)

In the second case, your application is well under the normal processing time of 10 weeks and you should get your medical request within that timeline. Also, don't worry, they'll process your medical fast enough in case it is the final stage of your application and you don't need any additional medical tests.

Hey, still no update. It’s been almost 4 weeks and I haven’t received medical request yet. How about you? Should I be worried?

Hey @naohFiona! Yes, you should definitely do that as SOP or LOE is the most important part of your application where you need to explain not only your study plan and ties to your home country, but all additional documents that you submit as well. Good luck to you! I understand it's been 6 weeks of waiting for you too by now

Still no, but I am gonna add my study plan through webform and see how it goes:)

Oh, wow! Great to hear from you @parth7aug! :) Sorry to hear that you had an emergency back in India and also had to interrupt the beginning of your studies in Canada :( Hope you family is all right now and things work out well for you!

It seems to me that you do not need to apply for a new study permit as you have got your original one until 30 April 2025 and you have been accepted into the same program by the same college. I believe that all you need to do is to send your new Letter of Acceptance to the IRCC through the webform and also apply for your study permit extension closer to April 2025 (at least 4-6 months prior to that date). Also, it would be best if you contact an immigration advisor at your college as they might help you the most in this situation. Normally, they can notify the IRCC on your behalf because they're in contact with the IRCC every semester regarding your study permit status anyways, so they know how to address this issue.

When are you planning to go back to Canada? Let us know how it goes with your application, it's an interesting situation. But I think it is not a particularly tricky one, it should be resolved easily!

Hello All,
So, I got my study permit approved back in December 2022 for the January 2023 intake at Humber College through SDS. I left for Canada on 28 Dec 2022. However, due to an emergency, I had to return back to India on 04 Jan 2023. My study+work permit is valid till 30 April 2025. As I've returned back to India, I withdrew from the course and got the fees refunded. As the emergency situation at my home cooled down, I re-applied for the same course in the same college for the Sept 2023 intake and also got the Letter of Acceptance.
I need to know if I have to apply for a fresh study permit or get an extension on the already approved one which is valid till 30 Apr 2025. I read a few articles and also referred to the IRCC website and it is mentioned that I need to submit the updated Letter of Acceptance through the web form if the deferral is more than 150 days. It is obviously more than 150 days.
I need to know the next steps. Can anyone advise? I haven't been getting any responses on my web forms.
@parrots - looking forward to your response! :)
Thanks in advance!

Thanks,
Parth

Hey @ridhamp00! Wow, 13 days ago you told me I should move my processing time benchmark to over 7 weeks! So, now it looks like you've made it in two days short of 9 weeks, right? :D My warmest congratulations on your approval and a great benchmark! Yours is officially the longest in 2023 on this forum so far! I wish no-one else breaks your record with their SDS applications this year! :)

The best of luck to you! (this forum needs more emojis, thumbs up!)
i'll share my timeline for reference for others too

File Submitted- 26th January 2023
Biometrics- 6th February 2023 (Updated the same day)
BVL- 16th February 2023
Webform Raised- 20th March 2023
PPR Received- 28th March 2023
My tracker shows medical and background check cleared on the next day of me receiving my PPR.
My medical wasnt updated so i did two things to deal with it firstly i raised a webform with enquiry regarding my medical results and after doing that i,ve called the hospital i had my upfront medical from and told them to give me an acknowledgement slip which is same as the e-medical sheet (just a single significant change is they added a heading on which date they submitted my medical reports to IRCC).

Thanks @ridhamp00! By the way, which country did you apply from? And yours is not a family application, right? There is a fear that family applications take longer really.

No No I've applied for study permit as individual file not with family. I've applied from India. I am not sure if family application takes longer or not but i've seen people ranging the timeline from 2 weeks to 8 weeks for family application, it really depends on profile to profile i feel.

Hey, I am from China. I applied for a study permit through SDS on 3.1.
The timeline for it:
3.1 submitted
3.8 Biometrics completed
3.14 medical completed
3.20 BVL
no updates since

Today, I just checked my application on the newly introduced tool from IRCC, Application Status Tracker. And it shows information like this, do you guys have similar information like this?

BTW, the site for the tool is : https://ircc-tracker-suivi.apps.cic.gc.ca/en
did it show eligibility and background check completed ?

Yeah, it certainly does and there is a some randomness at play as well I guess. 8 weeks sound so sweet! We'll keep waiting then ;)

hey there,
I have given my bio metric at Ahmadabad on 27th feb 2023,and did not get any update on ircc website.
i also raise one web from on ircc and in reply they said that we have received your biometric data. it's been a month.
in some video on YouTube. They said that if your biometric status on ircc website "Biometric status Tool" showing valid than you have to raise a web from and told them that you have a technical problem in GC Key portal.
I have recently raised the web form regarding that and waiting for the ans.
so can you please tell me what happened in your case and what yo had done to resolve this issue.
thank you.

Hey @vaibhavX123! Don't worry about your biometrics being updated, leave it as it is and don't bother with any more webforms, they won't help. The IRCC has definitely received your biometrics and they are processing it. You can check the availability and validity of your biometrics here
https://onlineservices-servicesenligne.cic.gc.ca/extapp/bioStatusQuery

If you find your biometrics there, it means the IRCC has received it. There is a huge change that your biometrics and/or medical won't be updated until you get your final decision. A great lot of people have reported the same issue.

Are you an SDS or non-SDS applicant? Which country are you applying from? :)

Hi I've applied under SDS from India for May 2023 intake
Application submitted - 5th March
Biometrics updated - 9th March
Medicals passed - 16th March
BVL - 27th March
No update since...it shows background check is being processed and eligibility is being reviewed...feeling super anxious as I've booked tickets for 19th April... I'm not able to create an application status tracker account either (it always shows "we are experiencing technical difficulties"
Sent a web form yesterday...no response yet

IRCC asks you not to book tickets until permit is approved. SDS processing has not been in place since before Covid. So you may need to change tickets and defer your program.
