Hey All,

I have been invited to attend a conference at the end of month of June, I am an Afghanistan citizen currently studying master degree studies in Czech Republic.

How much fund should I need to show, I will be staying in total of Nine days in Canada?

Specifically which portal do I need to submit my application?

How long approximately would it take to know the result of my application?

You apply for a TRV here: https://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/visa.asp

As much as you can, ideally. But certainly enough to cover airfare and food / accommodations. Don't buy your flight tickets until your TRV is approved.

Estimated processing time for TRVs is around 200 days right now.

Thank you.

It would mean that my application would not approve, since the I have only Three months from now. Your thought, should I apply or is it 50/50 chance.

You can try but IRCC doesn’t follow your conference dates. You need to show funds, travel history, ties to Afghanistan (proof to return) and reasons to travel. Honestly given your country of citizenship, it will be difficult to be approved given most people claim asylum or are refugees coming to Canada from your country. So if you apply you want a really strong reason to travel with proof to return.

How long have you lived in the Czech Republic? Who is paying for you to attend the conference? Are you presenting or just attending? Have you attended other similar conferences? Is this conference only available in Canada or are there similar conference in Europe or in neighbouring counties to Afghanistan? What is your international travel history? In general you need to show at least around 10k in personal savings as a visitor. Given the amount of Afghan citizens claiming asylum across the world at the moment there will be concerns about your plans especially if you are not presenting at the conference. If your plan is to claim asylum in Canada the fact that you are currently living in Europe and could have claimed asylum in Czech Republic or another European countries will likely be an issue.
