URGENT: Lost Status as Worker can I apply for BOWP?

-My Covid 18months work permit expired Nov 2022
-I applied for a work permit extension but was rejected on March 20th 2023. I currently have 90 days to restore my status.
-I have to go on work leave and cease work.
-I have 510 points and expect invitation in the next round this April.
-Can I apply for a Bridging Open Work Permit with an expired work permit and restore my status?

No. You are only eligible for BOWP once you have invited, submitted PR documents and receive AOR.

To be eligible, you must

• live in Canada (and intend to live outside Quebec) at the time you apply for your BOWP
  • You can leave Canada while we process your application.
  • However, if you leave Canada after your work permit expires, you can’t work until your new application is approved.
• either
  • have a valid work permit
  • have an expired work permit but maintained your status as a worker
  • be eligible to restore your status and get a work permit
• be the principal applicant on your permanent residence application
• have submitted a complete applicationfor permanent residence and passed the completeness check
  • Submitting a profile to the pool is not the same as applying for permanent residence.
  • Make sure you understand how Express Entry works.
• have your acknowledgement of receipt letter
  • We send this letter to your account after we get your permanent residence application

No. You can apply once you get AOR. Read all the bullets.

Once I complete my application for PR and get my AOR, I can restore my status and apply for a BOWP? I'm worried that I'll be off work for too long. Sorry if I'm sounding repetitive.

See bullet 2. If you are able to restore your status as a worker, it is possible. Any work since November doesn't count as you were refused extension.
