Do I need to give legal documents to IRCC for name change?

Hello friends,

when I was born, I had a different name and by the age of 15, my name was changed. Becuz I am honest person, I will declare it when applying for PR. But I want to know a few things. number one- will I need to provide IRCC with backdated legal documents for my name change? I may not have a affidavit from such a long time ago. Number two- if I changed my name in the past, does that mean that I will get extra background scrutiny? Will it increase processing time for my application? Plz help?

I don't think you need to provide affidavits for name changed at the age of 15 if all your documents (school certificates, uni, passports, etc) have the changed name. If lets say you are adding a doc that has older name that was later changed, maybe that'll cause an issue.

thx for your reply sir, the only document in which I have my old name is 10th grade CBSE certificate. This is not something that I'll add with my application. Other than that, all my passport, previous Canadian student visa, college certificate and bachelors degree is under my new name. If I can't find the old affidavit, can I plz simply add this in my letter of explanation? Plz also tell me if this will increase my background check time?
