Hi everyone, I hope you are all doing well. I am a refugee and my original passport was seized when I entered Canada, so I don’t have any passports that allow me to travel. And I’ve been In canada for 10 years without exiting once because there was a lot of delay in my refugee claim hearing and stuff. If I explain this to ircc will they consider to process my applicatipn urgently? (Also, I sent the paper application Dec 15, 2022). It’s been really tough for me as I havent seen my family in 10 years because all of their visitor visa’s have been rejected AND I dont have one single passport that I can travel with. I would appreciate your replies and hope your applications get processed quickly .

Maybe check this if your urgent processing doesn't go through? https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/canadian-passports/travel-documents-non-canadians.html

A friend with a refugee green card in the US had a travel document to travel outside of the US. When they applied for a visa to visit other countries, it was stamped in the travel document. It was a bit of a pain to travel though because it's not as common as a passport. I'm sure there is something similar in Canada as well.

I have seen this before, but other than it takes a long time to get processed, it is not accepted in the uae where some of my family is and obviously I cant use it to go to my home country so it’s completely no use. But I really appreciate your help!

Please research the risk of losing your status as a PR when visiting your home country, as a refugee. Search the forum. Hopefully experts can advise better.

I completely understand the big risk of it and will not take any risks. This is why I truly need the Canadian citizenship, I don’t want it just to have a better or stronger passport, but because it allows me to travel and see my family. Thank you for your help!

You can certainly try asking for urgent processing. Worst case scenario IRCC says no. No harm in asking.
