Hi I applied for Canadian citizenship and got an email from citizenship officer that he needs my foia report from USA. I already send him my border crossing history from Canadian border services but he is like its a wrong document.
Its been 6 months since i am trying to get hold of someone from USA. I applied couple time online in last 6 months but whenever i give foia officer call they always says that its been lost please re apply. What is this FOIA report is for and is there any alternative i can submit to cic. No one ever heard of this foia report locally.
Is anyone been through same situation

Not everyone who has travel history to/from US is asked for these records. But some are asked to get it from CBP. And it seems to be taking more than 60 days to get this report. If you think (based on your travel pattern) you may be asked to produce, you could apply and keep it ready. But there seems to be no clear pattern on who are asked to get this report.

The FOIA is to request entry/exit records that are otherwise available on CBP's I-94 portal for non-citizens (except LPRs). If you had any travel into the US during those 3 years (and are a US citizen/LPR) then you would want to request FOIA so you could have that when IRCC asks you for proof. Otherwise you should be able to obtain it from I94 - Official Website (dhs.gov) which you should get it anyways and save it for your records.

Ok, thanks.

I am an Indian citizen but during my 5 year eligibility period, I was in US for 677 days but haven't travelled to US after July 2019. My I-94 travel history shows all the details all the way back till 2014. Is that sufficient or can they request FOIA to non-US citizen / LPRs ?

That is sufficient. Just make sure you save a copy of the travel history in case it gets asked. But you don't need to worry about FOIA if you don't have a US PR.

I was asked for a FOIA request to CBP too by IRCC back in November. I submitted the request using securerelease.us in November and am still waiting. It's ridiculous. CBSA offers something similar through privacy act and those results came back within 15 days. I-94 travel history used to show only the last 99 events of entry/exit but recently I was able to go back all the way to 2015 (350+ events of entry/exits in my case) which I submitted to IRCC. I got a notice to appear for a citizenship interview right after. Fingers crossed.

My i94 doesn’t show any history. I already showed that to officer but the officer keep asking for the foia report. Its been 3 months since I applied for foia report but still nothing.
I got the final notice for ircc to submit it last month. I have no idea what to do ?
