Hello,
We believe my spouse's daughter (who is overseas, 16 years old) may have been unknowningly pregnant (by a couple of weeks) at that time she did her medical exam. Will this affect our application? Her medical was completed in August 2022 and to date we have not heard from IRCC whether or not her medical was passed, or if further tests are needed.
Has anyone experienced this or know if IRCC would let us know?

I doubt IRCC thinks this much about such cases, there's no ban on any of the applicants being pregnant (even dependents). As for whether her meds are 'passed', do they show up in the portal? Because they almost always are passed if completed. Exceptions are more often known - where some tests can't be done, etc., and the cases that aren't passed are things like tuberculosis.

I got a positive pregnancy test three days after my medical exam. There were no issues with the sponsorship and I didn't report the pregnancy because my PR came through before the baby was born. (We also already had one child so I didn't feel like letting them know was going to strengthen the application in terms of showing the genuineness of the relationship.) Obviously if the baby comes with the application still in progress you would need to update IRCC

Thanks for responding! Unfortunately we've been unsucessful in linking our paper application to the online account (so frustrating, been trying since April and no matter what info we enter to locate the application, it says it can't be found!) so I'm not seeing the detailed updates. The last update in the "Check Status Application" is that they sent us medical instructions... no other updates, no email stating she will need further testing or if any testing could not be completed. We did send a webform inquiry a few days ago asking for an update on the medical results, so I'm hoping they will reply soon. Thanks again

Thank you so much, that eases my anxiety a little bit. I found online that if you're pregnant you would be told to come back after the baby is born to do the xray (to avoid harm to the baby, assuming) but in this case, his daughter had no idea she was pregnant. I wasn't sure if they would check her blood or urine for pregnancy.

If her x ray was already done (without knowing the pregnancy) then it's OK for IRCC. (hopefully that wont' affect the fetus)

Until the baby is born, you do not need to inform IRCC. Hopefully she get approved and land in Canada before that.

Chest x-rays are generally considered pretty darn safe when pregnant. They're not going to do one just for fun on a pregnant woman (they don't do x-rays just for fun anyway), but I wouldn't worry about any effects on the baby. I was actually a bit surprised that IRCC seems to suggest you will have to wait if pregnant instead of leaving it to the mom and doctor to decide.

And my baby is a healthy 10 month old snoozing on my lap right now who has had zero issues from my x-ray at 4ish weeks pregnant.

My friend's and his wife's Canada PR application is in progress. His wife's PR medical examination was completed 4 months ago and has been passed. Now they have found out that she is 2 months pregnant. Do they need to inform IRCC about the pregnancy, or should they only inform them after the baby is born?

After the child is born. There is no harm in notifying but no benefit either.
