Super Visa - Stay in Canada question

Hello Everyone,

I don't understand one thing.

If the super visa is approved its validity is up to 10 years...

But.. the stay in Canada in from 2 to 5 years, depending on what the officer is going to decide at the port of entry...

So let's say that the parent gets 2 years to be in Canada (temp. residency) for how long does the parents has to be OUT OF CANADA (after those 2 years)

to come back to Canada again and claim another 2 years. (because the validity of super visa is 10 years)

p.s example of tourist visa is that you can be in Canada 6 months and then 6 months break and then again 6 months, so is it the same for super visa 2 years in - 2 years out?

1-super visa is a multi-entry visa that provides multiple entries for a period up to 10 years. The key difference is that the super visa allows an individual to stay for up to 5 years at a time in Canada, while a 10-year multiple entry visa would only have a status period for each entry of six months only.

2-It allows holders to stay in Canada for up to two years at a time without needing to renew their status. The super visa allows eligible parents and grandparents to stay temporarily in Canada. To stay permanently, parents and grandparents must be sponsored for permanent residence by their Canadian child or grandchild.

A supervisa remains a visitor visa. It should not appear as though your parents have moved to Canada. If they have been visiting Canada for 5 years then they should not leave for a month and try to reenter. If they do so it will appear as they took a vacation abroad like a PR or citizen living in Canada. As a supervisa holder they also have to qualify for Supervisa insurance every year and usually pass a mefical for any extensions. If a parent develops serious health issues one year then obtaining supervisa insurance may not be possible the following year. The ability to qualify for supervisa insurance can also limit how much time a parent can visit Canada.

What happens if they enter Canada with a super visa and get to stay here for 2 years, after two years, they go back home, is there a waiting period (same wait period for a standard visitor visa) before which they can re-enter Canada again, for additional (let's say 2 years) or does it work like this:

2 years in Canada - 2 years outside of Canada - (in order to go back to Canada for additional) - 2 years in Canada

or can it be like this

2 years in Canada - 7 days outside of Canada - (going back to Canada for additional) - 2 years in Canada

I agree, but a super visa cannot be seen as a visitor visa, it is a temporary resident visa, 2 years inside of a country cannot qualify as a visitor (without getting philosophical here)

As for medical insurance, i did not know that and thank you for that information, I didn't know that they have to have it every year.

It is a visitor visa. You actually apply for a TRV when you apply for a supervisa. There is no guarantee of permanent stay with a supervisa, no access to public healthcare, no ability to work, etc. Unfortunately many seem to think that a supervisa allows parents to relocate to Canada permanently which is why it wasn’t probably a good idea to keep increasing the allowed length of stay. 5 years ago it was 2 years on the first visit and 6 months on subsequent stays. The number one requirement for a supervisa is that you must take out supervisa insurance every year. If your parents don’t have supervisa insurance they don’t meet the terms of their supervisa and could be asked to leave Canada.
