Extend his visitor status before his visitor status expires. (usually 6 months from his entrance to Canada)
There is no implied status with sponsorship application.
Once you got AOR, applied for OWP (when the OWP application is in the system), then he's on implied status.
So if that all happened before his visitor status expires (NOT visitor visa), then he would be on implied status.

Again, you are not applying to extend his visitor visa (that expiry date on his VISA is for when he can re-enter Canada).
You are applying to extend his visitor status (before 6 months since he entered into Canada for most people).

Once he applied to extend his stay, he will be on maintainance status.

Good afternoon, Does anyone here have process a spouse that is undocumented in the US? or similar situation? if yes did the spouse started the application in the country he/she was undocumented? or the applicant needs to go back to original country so that they will have legal status? any inputs will be highly appreciated. Thank you

Can apply from US. No particular issue but MUST disclose status (ie the overstay or undocumented or whatever it's called) in US.

Of course, after moving to Canada may not be able to return to USA for quite some time.

I should have said, please also do more research. From some home countries documentation may be more difficult.

And I understand the biometrics and police check are not necessarily an issue in US, but please check carefully how this is done to minimize risk or issues (in the USA that is).

Thank you for your advise. i have started working on his visitor visa application. i was wondering what reason should i use for extending his visitor status. shall i say that he is waiting for his spousal sponsorhip or should i use some other reason. i am really scared if they would reject.

what reason can i use to extend his status. can i say i have applied for pr application. or do i have to give some other reason. the officer already gave him a visitor record on the day he arrived saying that because wife and daughter are both PR i will give visitor record.

Yes, say spouse sponsorship in process and give relevant info eg date submitted.
