Hi there. For anyone who knows or can advise us. We just got married recently in Hong Kong. I am married in the Philippines before but we got divorced in Canada. Me and my ex wife are both permanent resident when we got our divorce. My wife does not have any previous marriage. Hence we were able to get married in Hong Kong.

My question is can my wife now file a marriage certificate or register our marriage in the Philippines?

I am asking because cic might ask for marriage advisory on Philippine Statistics Authority. But we have the marriage certificate in Hong Kong and my divorce certificate in Canada.

Thanks in advance.

Shout out to Kaibigan, YVR123, Armoured and Louman and everyone out there who have insights..

So I already got our aor for spouse sponsorship since Sept 23rd also eligiblity as sponsor “in progress” same date. Application received on July 28th paper based outland.

My questions are does it takes longer for IRCC to give me SA and to my wife BIL & med since our circumstance is a little complicated before we got married? Being I am married in Phils, divorced in Canada with dependents here. She being single in the Phils but with dependent in previous relationship.

I see some people who are in almost same situation as ours, same timelines as I am get aor but no further movement so far. Unlike other applicants who submitted before or after us already got SA, bil & meds. Is it because they look at it as complicated application? Or they are looking at it closely? Is it so different with first time marriage with no dependent?

If any what why does IRCC taking so long. What are they looking for? Thanks in advance for any insights.

I have no real insight. But your application only got AOR in only a month ago, you will have to wait for the rest to process. I assume that's an outland application.

It's not that long. I'd say variation in time between offices is more of a factor than anything about your specific case (i mean the aspects you think are strange about your case are actually pretty routine).

If there are issues for sponsor, it's usually a limited list of issues - social assistance, PR-sponsor not in Canada/app submitted while not in Canada.

Yes it is paper outland. I understand it’s just a little over a month since my aor and eligiblity in process. But when I see a lot of applicants who has the same timelines more or less as me (some of them same country of PA) who is getting SA, bil & meds already. That is why i’m wondering if it takes more time if its complicated. I guess all applicants have no choice but to wait.

Variation in offices? I have the impression that if an application is outland and until we get an SA it stays in Sydney? I do not have these limited list of issues you mentioned hence I mentioned if the relationship before sponsorship is complicated it takes them more time.

I won't claim to know exactly when it goes to regional offices, things change. Only things I can think of. But it's too early to worry.
