OCI process

Hello experts,
I just applied for OCI for my new born on Oct 13th. walk in @ Brampton. We are travelling on December 16th. I dont think I will receive the OCI on time so I am going to apply for visitor visa.
the question is, if we travel on visitor visa to India. Can we stay for more than 6 months and travel back with OCI?

Do you know if its acknowledged by the consulate? you could check here https://ociservices.gov.in/statusEnqury
If its acknowledged, you should be good as usually, it takes 3 weeks from acknowledgment to get processed and then another week to get in your hand.

It shows OCI number and printed date but doesnt say anything for Dispatched or received. How long is the estimated wait ? I fly out in 9 days. Need help.

Sent via Purolator Aug 2nd (Surrey bls)
Acknowledgement August 13th and requested a new application again.
Application sent again on August 19th.
New acknowledgment September 7th.
Oci status started showing September 16th
Processed October 11
Dispatched from MEA and received Vancouver on October 14th.
Then after bls site still show processing at consulate general
Something maybe next week?

Date of Issue: (Mandatory)
Date of Expiry: (Mandatory)
Place of Issue: (Mandatory)
Previous Passport Number: (Not Mandatory) - The callout box on the form says "As per Indian Passport or Birth Certificate"

My question: Is this compulsory to provide this information? If yes, our previous cancelled Indian Passport Number.. or can we leave this blank.

Same as you mentioned, BLS acknowledged means application started showing on the BLS website.

Wow congrats. Finally seeing an Ottawa application getting processed.
My Acknowledgement date is Aug 29, still under process. Hopefully soon
