Increasingly over the past few years, it seems like a considerably large percentage of immigrants coming to Canada are Indians. There does not seem to be much diversity in our immigrants. Most of these immigrants are coming to do blue collar jobs in walmart and fast food chains, which require barely any education or language skills (atleast from the looks of it). So, how come we cannot get people from diverse backgrounds to fill these jobs? It seems like people from Africa, South America, Europe and even to an extent other Asian countries are being overlooked to fill these gaps, gaps which require very little prior training.
I have heard that most of these blue collar workers coming from India are paying "agents" 30-40 grand to provide them with LMIAs, which seems incredibly illegal to me, others come here on the notion of wanting to study but instead transition to these blue collar jobs right away through the route of these "agents" who seem to be exploiting them and our country.
One of the greatest benefits of immigration is that it creates diversity amongst the local population, but instead right now, it is having the opposite effect where people from only one country are immigrating over here. Why aren't we looking to diversify our immigrants?
