Study Permit Challenges for Nigerian Applicants

Hello Folks,

I have recently posted a topic regarding a case law before the federal court of Canada regarding a study permit refusal for a Nigerian applicant. It's not such good news as from now the visa officers would have more discretion when assessing visas on financial grounds.

Court says, not just 1 year of tuition fees. but also evidence that you can support the entire study is reasonable. So, just be very careful when preparing and drafting your supporting documents and SOP.

I submitted my application February 8, then I did biometrics February 11 and I haven’t gotten any response or medical request since then.

After Background, next your eligibility will start, during eligibility they will check ur loa validity, statement or proof of funds and if ur good in eligibility they will request for medical. Check your online application if is showing eligibility in progress

Pls I was requested to do my medicals on June 17, 2022, which I did on the 4th of July 2022, it's been over two weeks now and I haven't heard anything, and the 30 day mark has been exceeded now. Is there something I'm supposed to do or is this normal in terms of waiting time?

I have been asked to submit my passport, but nothing else on my portal has changed, just the final decision. I haven't been asked to go for medicals. Is this normal? I would also like some help on how to go about submitting my passport in person.

Did you apply from a country medical is required. How is the timelime of your account. If is refusal, they will send you correspondence mail and followed by refusal letter and not ppr

I'm applying from Nigeria. I applied on March 25th and I got my PPR yesterday. I haven't given medicals before but this is my second application.

Lol thanks. So they probably won't ask for it again? Also I'd like some help with mailing my passport. I plan to Mail to Abuja, because I heard it's faster than Lagos, but I didn't capture biometrics there. How do I go about it? Is there anything else I should know? I can't seem to find the information I'm looking for.

Hi guys! Pls is it advisable to withdraw a 8months old application...they have been reviewing it since jan and no response from them yet..tho I didn’t pay my tuition fee Bcs my school didn’t compulsory it...could it be the reason for delay? If yes, can I withdraw and reapply then pay my tuition fee?
