Tried now, it says high volume of calls. a year ago atleast there used to be a wait. But now it disconnects after saying there is high volume of calls. And to try again, it needs to go series of steps, like press 1, 3, 4 and 5 and then we hear calls are busy and hangs up! If you havve tried recently let me know what options do you select to get connected? Or else if you have done this like more than 6 months ago then it was not how it is now.Keep trying especially in the afternoon ET hours. It will get connected ...
Better go with Proper Photo studio where they take pictures specifically for all Passport or Visa related ones. If you have nothing close by try in CVS or Walgreens. But not Walmart or Costco.what is the best way to get canada PR photos here in US??
I sent the photos first time, but they were rejected and I got another email asking for new photos.
Better to request for an extension if its not possible to extend your travel dates to India. If you have atleast 6 to 8 weeks then you are good. If everything works fine you may get it in 3 weeks but you never know.Hi everyone, super urgent question. I am an Indian citizen currently in the US. My common-law partner and I have received the PPR email. But, we'll be travelling to India on July 29 (30 days from now) for our wedding, and the travel plans cannot be postponed by more than a week or two. Do you think it's a good idea to send our passports to Ottawa now, or request for an extension? The problem is that we've planned a long stay in India, and will be back only the first week of October. So, we'd have to request for an extension from 30 days to about a 100 days. Is that okay, or is it too risky?
I sent my passports to Ottawa and they reached on June 20. Haven't seen a response from IRCC or any activity in the portal.Has anyone who had their passport delivered from the US to Ottawa around the 17th of June received their passport and/or any update?
Same day here! I haven't heard any response yet... Could you please let us know when you receive it? I'll keep you posted as well. Thank youHas anyone who had their passport delivered from the US to Ottawa around the 17th of June received their passport and/or any update?
No update for me. However, I have seen a couple of ppl who had passport delivered on 14th June receive it back on the 4th of July.Same day here! I haven't heard any response yet... Could you please let us know when you receive it? I'll keep you posted as well. Thank you
Your passport is your property, so you can ask for them to return it immediately, or legally, you can sue them. I had similar issues with the US Embassy in India - they held onto my passport for a month, but when I demanded it back citing the above, they returned it within 5 days, with visa stamped. However, I have already written to CPCO-Ottawa about 10-12 days ago (using the webform) that I need my passport to fulfill my immigration obligations in the US, but no success so far.My passport was received on June 18th and still awaiting any kind of update. Honestly, looking at experiences like this and news like this, I feel we have a long wait ahead. Brace yourselves.
Canada began issuing 10yr passports in 2012. Their renewals, along with people planning summer vacations after 2 year Covid hiatus. Outages don't help either. Talk about being in the wrong queue at the wrong time.
Obviously, I am super-worried! Staying as a non-immigrant in the USA without a passport is precarious.
Please share if anyone has any good update/news. I'm on the verge of cancelling my upcoming travel plans (for 07/28).
