I was born in Canada in 1959 to German citizens who had lived in Canada for over 4 years. We remained in Canada for another two and a half years. My parents and I moved to the USA and I became a naturalized US citizen when I was 9 years old. I have my Canadian birth certificate and my Canadian passport from when I was a baby. I now have a US passport. Am I a Canadian citizen? Are my US born daughters Canadian citizens?

You lost your Canadian citizenship when you became a U.S. citizen in 1968, but gained it back (retroactive to your date of birth) on April 17, 2009. Your daughters, as children of a Canadian-born citizen in the 1st generation, are also Canadian citizens. You can get a Canadian passport using your birth certificate. Your daughters would need to apply for citizenship certificates.

Thank you for your quick response. I want to be clear: I am a citizen even though my parents were not at the time of my birth in Canada?

Yes, since you were born in Canada you have birthright citizenship...the thing the Republicans in the U.S. want to eliminate in the USA!
