Hello.
I claimed refugee status in 2015 and got PR in 2018. I want to invite my sister for a visit and l’m worried my previous refugee status will make them decline her application.

has anyone had success inviting a family member for a visitor visa when they had a-past of claiming refugee status even though they are now PR?

it will likely get refused, but it can be approved also. You have to make sure she has enough money to support her property bank home job etc. She needs to show very very strong ties to back home and also show she has money

Its not an automatic refusal, you can apply provided you meet requirement as inviting person and she, as an applicant.

We had the same situation and we got a long-term touristic visa for my sister 2 years ago, no problem. Good luck!

It will depend on the reasons you received asylum in Canada and whether the reason for asylum or the current country situation would make it likely that your sister would also apply for asylum. Also depends on her employment status, property ownership, savings amount in her name, previous international travel, ties to her home country like dependent family members.
