Did you get the email from passport India about the initiation of your police verification. If yes there is a unique ref number starting with CAT. Give that to your relative in India and ask them to go to the police station which is on your application and give that number to the police person there to check. Sometimes they sit on it. My mom had to go to the police station with that number after which they came home for the PV

Today the status changed to 'Application Granted on pre police verification basis', does it mean they will approve the passport only after the PV is cleared? Generally how long the verifcation takes?

Well not really sure.. Could that they will approve on pre verification. but just to be safe its better your relative goes to the police station to check

That means NEXT STEP would be your "PV INITIATED" , that means you will receive an email saying Police Verification is initiated, Keep checking your email

When I checked the passport verification status online using https://www.verifast.in/ , it's showing as below (I am residing in USA). Hope police verification is completed.

I guess you need to wait until Passport website says "Print Initiated" :)

In general how long will it take to update the next status once Police Verification is completed?
