I tried to book appointment today for My B1/B2 visa but it gave me to send the documents to consulate is it normal? I am Canadian PR had B1/B2 since 2010 which expired in 2020. Had h1B from 2012 to 2018 which I surrendered when I moved to Canada.
just had the same issue.. I'm assuming because they are waiving the interview automatically (though they may decide to request an interview) they need you to send the documents instead? wish they accepted photocopies of a passport rather than require the actual passport

Hi,

I am Canadian PR holder and my B1/B2 expired on April 3rd 2022. I guess interview is waived for renewal. If yes, can somebody provide me more details on the application process and documents needs to be submitted?, I did check https://ais.usvisa-info.com/en-ca/niv but could not find the exact link which has information on the process.

Thank you

There is not much for B visa and they will want you have strong ties in resident country and have enough money to take care of expenses while in US.

----------------------------------------------------------
They have this list in the email which will confirm after submitting appointment/scheduled for dropbox. But as usual no list is finite. They can email you and ask for more.

The following documents are required for all visa types:
  1. Current Passport valid for travel to the United States. The passport must be valid for at least six months beyond the period of stay in the United States (unless exempt by country-specific agreements.)
  2. Passport containing the most recently issued U.S. visa (if applicable).
  3. Nonimmigrant Visa Application, Form DS-160 confirmation page.
  4. Confirmation and Instructions page printed from this website
  5. One 5 x 5 cm (2 x 2 inches) color photo taken within the last 6 months. Further details regarding Department of State photo guidelines can be found at: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/visa-information-resources/photos.html.
  6. Accompanying family members, unless entering the United States for another purpose, should present a marriage certificate (spouse) and/or birth certificate (for unmarried children under 21), as applicable.
  7. Copy of proof of your legal status in Canada
If you are attending an appointment in person, you must bring original documents. If you are eligible to send your documents via courier, you must send your current valid passport and the prior passport containing the most recently issued U.S visa (if applicable), as well as the DS-160 confirmation page and copies of any other supporting documents. Please see the section below for a list of supporting documents required for each visa type.
(H) TEMPORARY WORKER
  • Receipt Number for your approved petition as it appears on your Petition for a Nonimmigrant Worker Form I-129 or Notice of Action Form I-797 from USCIS (does not apply to H1B1 visa applicants).
  • Job offer from United States employer and a Certified Department of Labor approved application (applies to H1B1 visa applicants only).

Scheduled B1/B2 visa appt in Toronto in Aug 2022. I overlooked the below question and answered as 'NO" instead of "YES".

Were you previously issued a visa to enter the United States? * ---> Answered NO, Correct answer YES

I had H1B visa stamp issued in Toronto in Oct 2021.

It seems support agent can't modify or I can't modify unless current appoint is cancelled. The next available appointment is Jun 2023 at the moment and I'm sure I may not have chances to get back appointment available again for Aug 2022.

I have answered YES to the same question in DS-160 Form. DS-160 Form has all information covered accurate without missing anything.

Have you ever been issued a U.S. Visa? YES
Date Last Visa was Issued: nn OCTOBER 2021
Visa Number: R9999999
Are you applying for the same type of visa? NO
Are you applying in the same country where the visa above is issued and is this country your principal country of residence? YES

Would there be any issues if I don't change in appointment details page (https://ais.usvisa-info.com/en-ca/niv/groups/)?

Your whole eligibility would have been completely changed and your assessment would be completely different for previously issued visa holders.
I hear that with multiple tries for a week or two, people are managing to get appointment within few weeks. So i would cancel and rebook rather than taking risk and reaching consulate with wrong information.

Option1: Cancel and rebook with new DS160.
Option2: I assume you are scheduled an appointment hence you can take new DS160 and give it to consular specifying the mistake so that he/she can assess correctly. Even if you dont give, they can easily find out once they scan your detail.

Visa issuance (which you already know since you had been issued visa earlier, surely you would have attended the interview for that) is hardly a job of 1-2 mins for them since they have too many candidates. So small mistakes will cost us whole visa and this is not small hence i would risk of waiting for more time for the visa to represent myself correctly from the beginning before the interview rather than messing it up more just because there is delay in gaining appointment. Visa denial is having more effect than the effect of waiting - its my thinking.

Like I clearly said in my earlier post, There are no issues with DS160. I have an appointment in Aug 2022.

I answered incorrectly to the same question during scheduling appointment.

Question is Does anyone have experience or know if visa officers will also look into what was answered while scheduling appointment rather than what's in DS160.

My understanding is that all matters is DS160.

Sorry got it now. But scheduling workflow takes decision based on your answer here on the website. So i am not sure if that will be a problem. Dont know what they refer.
Try emailing them or not sure if you can call.

I tried emailing them, but they can only change DS160 and visa type. They can't change answer to YES in the scheduling portal.

without taking any further risk, I'll cancel current one, make changes and book new appt
