Visitor Visa while waiting for Permanent Residency?

Hi all,

Just curious if anyone has any experience with applying for a Visitor Visa while awaiting a Permanent Residency application?

We've applied for Outland Sponsorship at the beginning of March, but I've been reading [1] IRCC increased the processing time from 12 to 19 (now 20) months, and was trying to think of ways to see each other during the wait. I wanted to avoid applying for a Visitor Visa in the past as I felt it would be very difficult to prove her ties to her home country and that she would return, so I was doing the visiting and once we were married we moved on to sponsorship.

Wondering if perhaps having a sponsorship application would either help to get a visitor's visa approved, or would it further hinder the chances? Maybe they would see it as a bigger risk that she wouldn't return home?

It would be so much easier for her to be able to visit me for a couple months as opposed to me trying to visit her for a couple weeks.
Any thoughts are appreciated, thanks!

Exactly this.

How much ties she have back home?

Pretty bad from IRCC perspective, and my ability to cover all the financials, shelter, food, etc. seems irrelevant when it comes to Visitor Visa.

- Has family (me) in Canada
- Has other family in Canada
- No savings
- No recent employment documentation (cash)
- No assets (e.g. vehicle)
- No property (lives with family in rental)
- No children

Also curious even IF we applied and it was rejected, would it do damage to the PR application?

It won't damage the PR application provided there are no misrepresentations in the TRV application. A simple refusal of a TRV will have no impact on spousal sponsorship.
