IRCC Background Checks & Eligibility

Hello Friends,
I will be filing an application to sponsor my wife from Pakistan.

I was convicted of a sexual nature criminal offence 9 years ago, and received a pardon (record suspension) last year.
I was told that:
- If have a sponsor has a criminal record as long as it's been more than 5 years before the sponsor files the application, then they are eligible to sponsor
- If the sponsor received a record suspension or a pardon, then they are eligible to sponsor.

Based on my understanding, I'm eligible to become a sponsor, as I've received a pardon.

My questions are:
1. What kind of things will the IRCC look for when they conduct a background screening on me?
2. When the IRCC conduct a background check, will my old record show up, and possibly make me ineligible later on?

Please let me know

Thank you.

Did you disclose this issue in the application? If so, are you providing a copy of your pardon with the application, or is it not required?

The application asks, "Have you been convicted of a sexual nature criminal offence?"
The question isn't very clear. I'm sure sure if it's asking if I've been convicted in the past or if I'm currently convicted.

I'm not even sure, if I should disclose it or not. I have all the pardon papers as well. I also contacted my local police department. They said only police and immigration customs officers at Borders can see my record.

The question is asking for conviction. The answer there would be YES.
Then you deal with explanations thereafter. All the best.
